Lithosphere - The Latest Addition to GeoScienceWorld

Alexandria, Va. – GeoScienceWorld (GSW) is pleased to announce the immediate launch of Lithosphere, the 38th online geoscience journal on our web site, http://www.geoscienceworld.org. The journal is now available and fully searchable through GSW’s online portal of geoscience journals at http://lithosphere.geoscienceworld.org. The full-text is freely available to all until April 23, 2009; after that date, full-text will be available only to GSW subscribers.

Lithosphere, published by The Geological Society of America, is the newest addition to GSA’s collection of premier, peer-reviewed earth-science journals. Published six times each year, in print and online, Lithosphere focuses on the tectonic processes that affect Earth’s crust and upper mantle. Content will highlight research that addresses how the surface, crust, and mantle interact to shape the physical and chemical evolution of the lithosphere at all spatial and temporal scales. According to Frank Pazzaglia, Lehigh University department chair, and Lithosphere editorial board member, “Lithospheric-scale research that integrates geomorphology, geology, geophysics, geodesy, structural geology, petrology, and geodynamics is growing in popularity as a rewarding and productive way to take our understanding of the solid Earth to the next level. This new journal is a logical and much needed voice for this kind of integrated research in the geosciences.”

GeoScienceWorld is an online resource for research and communications in the geosciences, built on a core aggregation of high-impact, peer-reviewed journals that are indexed, linked, and interoperable with the GeoRef bibliographic database. Lithosphere adds one more facet to the dazzling array of journals that contribute toward GSW’s mission to be the most comprehensive, widely accessible, easy to use, integrated, and cost-effective online resource for journals in the geological and earth sciences.
