Interrelations of bauxite texture, micromorphology, mineral individualism, and heteromorphism
Economic Geology and the Bulletin of the Society of Economic Geologists (July 1977), 72(4):573-581
Abstract:
Quantitative parameters were established by X-ray, infrared, chemical, and other methods to describe the individual and heteromorphic character of the principal bauxite minerals. Selected samples of different composition and origin were studied by these methods. The parameters were correlated with the type of deposit, conditions of formation, and secondary processes. The technological consequences of the mineral individualism and heteromorphism were also investigated. The parameters are suitable for a more exact and detailed genetic (mineralogic) evaluation of the bauxite deposits and make possible more precise technological planning.
