Chemical Halos as Guides to Lode Deposit Ore in the Park City District, Utah
Economic Geology and the Bulletin of the Society of Economic Geologists (May 1974), 69(3):377-382

Abstract:
Chemical halos associated with lode deposits in the Park City district have been detected and have potential as guides in exploration. More than 400 wall rock samples collected in proximity to seven veins were analyzed by atomic absorption for Ag, Cu, Mn, Pb, and Zn. Petrographic study of selected samples showed no detectable mineralogical halos, but chemical halos of Ag, Cu, Mn, Pb, and Zn were found, and they enlarge the target for lode deposit exploration by a factor of more than ten.
